Gum Arabic - Char Gond (100gm) - Natural Acacia Gum, Traditional Medicine, Digestive Support, Pure & Unprocessed
Gum Arabic, known as Char Gond in Urdu/Hindi, is the dried sap from acacia trees that's been used for thousands of years - and we mean literally thousands. Ancient Egyptians used it, it's mentioned in old medical texts, and people still use it today for everything from digestive health to traditional sweets. These small, amber-colored crystals might not look like much, but they've got a pretty impressive track record.
It's basically tree sap that hardens into crystals or chunks when it dries. Acacia trees in Africa (mainly Sudan) naturally produce this gum, and when collected and dried, you get these little translucent pieces. When you dissolve them in water, they create a thick, sticky solution that's been used in food, medicine, and even art supplies for ages.
In traditional medicine, especially Ayurvedic and Unani practices, Char Gond is known for digestive support and general wellness. It's also used in Indian and Pakistani cooking - those little crunchy bits in some traditional laddoos? That's often roasted Char Gond. It's edible, it's natural, and it's been part of traditional healing for generations.
These are traditional uses - not medical claims. Always consult your doctor:

Questions About Gum Arabic (Char Gond)
They're the same thing. Gum Arabic is the English name, Char Gond is what it's called in Hindi/Urdu. Both refer to the dried sap from acacia trees. Some people also call it Acacia gum or Babul gond.
Take 1-2 teaspoons of the crystals, soak in warm water for a few hours or overnight. They'll dissolve into a thick, sticky liquid. You can drink it as is or mix it with milk, juice, or honey. Some people prefer to strain it.
It's high in soluble fiber, which is definitely good for digestion. Traditionally, people use it for constipation, diarrhea, and general gut health. Modern studies show it can act as a prebiotic, feeding good gut bacteria. But it's not a cure-all.
Many people do, especially in traditional medicine practices. But start small - like 1 teaspoon a day - because the high fiber content can cause gas or bloating if you're not used to it. Work your way up gradually.
It's used traditionally during and after pregnancy in some cultures. But pregnancy isn't the time to experiment with supplements or remedies. Ask your doctor first, seriously.
Some pieces can be stubborn. Use warm (not boiling) water and give it time - overnight soaking works best. You can also break larger pieces into smaller ones. If it still won't dissolve, it might not be pure gum arabic.
Yes! That's actually common in Indian cooking. Roast small pieces in ghee until they puff up (be careful, they can pop like popcorn). Used in winter sweets and laddoos. It changes the texture completely - becomes light and crunchy.
Pretty much nothing - it's almost flavorless. Maybe slightly sweet and a tiny bit earthy, but you barely notice. That's why it's easy to add to drinks or food without changing the taste much.
Traditionally, yes - it's even used to help manage blood sugar. The fiber content can slow sugar absorption. But diabetics should check with their doctor before adding any supplement, even natural ones.
Each gum has different properties. Gond Katira (tragacanth) is cooling, Gond (edible gum) is heating, Char Gond (acacia) is neutral and mainly for digestion. They're all tree gums but used differently in traditional medicine.
In small amounts and dissolved in water or milk, it's generally considered safe. But kids' digestive systems are sensitive, so start with very small amounts. And check with a pediatrician if your child has any health conditions.
Indian, Pakistani, and Middle Eastern grocery stores usually stock it. Some herbal medicine shops carry it too. Look in the traditional medicine or spice section. We deliver quality Gum Arabic across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.
